A fun, educational, and inclusive program for young horse lovers ages 10–14!
The Jr. Pony Club at Parkwood Farms Therapy Center is designed to introduce children and their parents to the exciting world of horses in a safe, supportive, and educational environment. Based on the United States Pony Club (USPC) curriculum for junior members, this program focuses on developing responsibility, teamwork, confidence, and a deep appreciation for horses—without requiring prior riding experience.
What to Expect
Our Jr. Pony Club meets twice a month for parent/child, unmounted sessions that are hands-on and interactive. Together, families will learn about:
Horse behavior and care – understanding how horses think and communicate
Grooming and horsemanship basics – safe and fun ways to connect with horses on the ground
Barn safety and etiquette – learning how to move confidently and respectfully around horses
Horse anatomy, tack, and nutrition – the essentials of keeping horses happy and healthy
These sessions are designed to build foundational knowledge, strengthen the parent-child bond, and foster a love of learning through shared experiences.
Beyond the Barn
Jr. Pony Club members will also enjoy field trips, educational games, and age-appropriate activities that encourage teamwork and curiosity. As participants grow in skill and confidence, they may choose to take part in lessons, shows, rallies, and field trips alongside our older Pony Club members (additional fees apply).
